Hunter and Boater Education Combined Instructor Workshop

TPWD presents this combined instructor course to certify teachers as Hunter and
Boater Education instructors. At the workshop you will be required to verify that
you have completed the Introduction and Chapters 1-4 of the HED instructor
manual on-line.
Teachers must currently hold a Texas HED STUDENT Certificate.
HED and BED are mandatory for all high school aged students who wish to hunt or
operate a boat on Texas public waterways. HED and BED student courses offer a
complete package of instruction and may be taught by ag science teachers as part
of the Wildlife Management and Recreation Curriculum. Once you have completed this INSTRUCTOR course and the rest of the application process (HED/BED student
course, application, release/waiver, agreement and game warden interview), you
may offer HED and BED student courses to the public.

Private Pesticide Applicators Re-Certification

Licensed private applicators are required to recertify every five years by obtaining
fifteen (15) continuing education credits, including two (2) credits in laws and
regulations and two (2) credits in integrated pest management (IPM), prior to
expiration of the license. Licensed commercial and non-commercial applicators are
required to recertify every year by obtaining five (5) continuing education credits;
with one credit each from two of the following categories: Laws and regulations,
integrated pest management or drift minimization. This 3 CEU recertification
program will be composed of: a minimum of one (1) CEU hour in Laws and
Regulations, and two (2) CEUs hour from either the Integrated Pest Management,
drift minimization, or the General category.

Understanding and Meeting the Needs of Gifted Learners

Texas law requires teachers receive 30 hours of training in gifted education to be eli
gible to teach gifted;
in addition, teachers must receive six hours of training yearly to maintain that eligi
bility.

CASE Briefcase Workshop

A 6-hour Agricultural Business workshop that will be held virtually via Zoom. The
cost will be $200. The price all the sessions and a notebook with 70 days of lessons.
You must register through the CASE Institute to attend.
Agricultural Business Foundations (ABF) introduces students to business
management in agriculture. Mathematics, reading, and writing components are
woven in the context of agriculture and students will use the introductory skills and
knowledge developed in this course throughout subsequent CASE courses.
Throughout the course are practical and engaging activities, projects, and problems
to develop and improve business and employability skills. Additionally, students
investigate and develop viable business plans in order to solve local problems. The
business plan ideas are communicated to student peers and members of the
professional community.

Level 1 Floral Design

We will review instrumental design principles and elements necessary for students
to successfully obtain the Level 1 Floral Design Certification. This class will go over
the Level 1 tested floral arrangements and grading criteria.

Level 2 Floral Design

Building upon basic design skills, we will challenge students to successfully complete the advanced arrangements required for the Level 2 Floral Design Certification. We will highlight key elements in teaching and grading the asymmetrical, vase and corsage.

SAE Case Studies in AET Advanced to Basic

This workshop will be a hands-on-application for students keeping records for the
most advanced SAEs to the most basic, which is a Foundational SAE. Bring your
laptop and be powered up! Details of the SAE Case studies will be provided and
participants will follow along as we make the entries for a student beginning
with beginning inventory of breeding animals and how that SAE moves forward with
new offspring, common cash, and non-cash entries and use of the breeding
livestock manager. This SAE will also be involved such as retaining offspring as new
SAEs and strategies to manage the new SAE in the market manager. This SAE
example will include a step-by-step handout and hopefully will help each participant
see the process and how to help students manage this type of SAE. The final case
study will be managing a Foundational SAE, and important step-by-step aspects of
that SAE and entries into AET. A final aspect of this workshop will be how these
records flow into FFA awards and grading processes to help teachers monitor
students along the way.
